How do I search within a forum only?

This has probably been asked and answered a bunch of times. I tried searching, but I get a bunch of unrelated results because I don't know how to search effectively.  Seems like a sticky is needed for this. 

Is there a tutorial on how to search effectively?   I'd like to only search within a particular forum, is this possible?

I haven't been able to find it....... by searching..... the irony....
