Get a signature going with your contact info, what you do, who you work for. BiggerPockets.com is favored by Google. I do get business from this website (sometimes my W2 job, more often other stuff), but it's actually rare that it's a frequent poster, or even the person who asked the exact question that I am exactly answering. More often than not, Joe the original poster has some super niche question about some mortgage guideline that few people know about, but Joe is in Minnesota where I'm not even licensed to do business. Or, Joe is a big talker and a tire kicker, but not an action taker. But Sally, who google-searched essentially the exact same question as Joe and is in California where I'm licensed... she finds my post because it was linked to or quoted in some blog I've never heard of, reads my answer, and boom picks up her cell phone immediately and calls me to talk about some guideline I mentioned in some post I made six months ago that I'd completely forgotten about. Sally isn't a big-talking tire-kicker! And you will never find a single post of hers on the forums. You will know she exists when that email or phone call arrives, and not a moment before.Be "Sally-friendly." She is exceptionally well qualified for what she wants to do, she is a dream to work with, she is realistic, she doesn't mess around, and she will close if that is in fact the right decision for her. I like Sally.

@Patti Robertson I understand you point. However spammers and those here only to promote themselves will take any weakness or hole in our policies and exploit it. unfortunately innocent people with the best intentions get caught in the net. Yes you can create a blog post here. You can also link to the post.@Rigoberto PeraZa in this case it is up to the recipient of a private message to decide whether your message is appropriate or not. Every private message has link to report the message as spam. We consider private message spam as one of the worst offenses. If someone has asked about a specific topic, you are probably safe but again it is up to the recipient to decide. If you are already colleagues then a message is usually appropriate. For both of you and anyone else reading along, we want Bigger Pockets to be a way for you to promote yourself and to do business here on the site. However it is more important to us that no one ever receives what they consider an unsolicited ad or self promotion of any kind. The best way to promote yourself here is to post good quality stuff and build relationships over time.

@Patti Robertson BP has very strict rules. That is by choice. The phenomenal growth of BP we feel is a direct result of our limiting advertising and self promotion. I apologize that you did not get a response from other moderators. I do respond when people ask me about posts I moderate.Most of the answers would be found by reading the rules. You cannot self link. The fact that a link you want to send people to is helpful does not matter. Linking to your own sites or material is considered self promotion. You cannot recommend yourself or offer your own services even if someone requests services you provide. you can recommend others, you cannot recommend yourself.You cannot do any type of deal making, looking for buyers or sellers other than in the marketplace forum.You cannot ask people to "Message me" or "PM me" again that is considered self promotion. If you have advice to offer offer it to every one. If you have something to sell or promote put it in the Marketplace. I have had my own posts moderated at times. We understand that we are tough on the rules and we understand it takes time to get used to them. If you have a post that is moderated it is not held against you, unless there are flagrant and or repeated violations. I hope this helps.

Thanks @Russell Brazil. I understand the rule now, but it does seem silly. I'm not likely to take the time to create an entire new document just to be able to share it. I guess the best solution is to convert it into a BLOG post. Thanks for taking the time to educate me.

The document you link to, while educational violates the self promotion rules. The reason it does is the document has your name on it, company logo, your job title, contact information and website link to your site on it. I've edited out the link to the document in your previous post.

@Chris MasonPosting high quality informative stuff by moderators is considered solicitation or advertising. I'm unsure if it's too certain people who need to ☟. I might just start attending meetups, or find other real estate networking alternatives. Perhaps if I upgrade to a plus or pro I would not feel too thick skinned on. I never felt so unliberated in a real estate environment. Nor will I stay in a categorized community for very long, if feeling resumes. Maybe I will Ask perhapps if I could write up; an article. Taking things seriously. Sally calling you months later of a forum you post months past. How she is great in keeping you up to date. Let's hope for the salvation of your success she hangs in their with you and Bigger Pocket moderators to improve this communitie. For me; I want to utilize bp to investing. Yes I'll help people since I do obtain my side real estate license but this is only an amenities in case I ever need it. I'm here to network with other investors. Hardly remember I obtain my license. I put more attention on my major definite of purpose "fruit juices; shakes", just as Starbucks sells coffee". Using real estate is always well for businesses, corporations, along the journey of someone's definite of purpose. I would make more investing than being an intermediary [or even my major definite of purpose] but I learned doing what you love Is life. Seeing people eat nutritiously for me is fulfilling. Plus All forms of real estate is entertaining; keeps my blood flowing; on what I intentionally plan to do. I were going to continue to inform you.. theirs a high margin of sales in state of I live [1 in 98 people are licensed]. It's always well to lift others enthusiasm in occasional days with smilies as to continue ones interpersonal encouragement. Regardless of how others see things. I learned by the law of attraction. That did help @Ned Carey. I didn't send anyone to my website, but I linked to a dropbox document. I only did that because I can't upload it from my ipad. I still don't feel this document in anyway promotes me. I was simply sharing tooks that would help other investors who are thinking about getting into SEC 8 investing. I've shared this exact same document on BP previously and it was never called out before. Do you mind taking a look at my document to see if you feel if it violates the self promotion policy? I guess I could turn it into a BP BLOG as an alternative way to share the info.Thanks so much for taking the time to help a newer BPer.

Say you send a connection request with a message because the person asked about a particular subject I for example retail commercial sales, person asked. So I sent him a connection request with a message that stated I heard you asking details about retail commercial investing I could help you in this call me. Is this breaking the rule😭.
