Technical problem with site - why does BP bog down my computer?

Okay, I thought it was maybe in my mind.  But, I've tried accessing BP with different browsers, and when my computer was cold and fresh, and it's just slowwww!  I thought it was because I had too much stuff opened at the same time, but I've been experimenting.  There's something about the BP website that just bogs down everything.  Why?  What scripts are you using?  I hope you look into it because it's crazy frustrating.  I have a great, fast Mac and super fast internet.  And the same thing happens in Firefox or Chrome.  So, it's the website.  Hope you figure it out.  It's really frustrating.  Thanks.

@Joel Owens I just did the following on chrome and it worked for me

To disable auto play video / audio ads:

1. Open Settings in Google Chrome.
2. Click 'Show advanced settings'
3. Click 'Content settings'
4. Switch Plug-ins to 'Click to play' from 'Run Automatically'
