Android app notification feature- how do I stop it?

Is there a way to turn off key word notifications on the Android app? I keep thinking I am getting text messages and would like to have some control over this feature and when it alerts me.

It didn't work for me either. I think having an app would be great, but my phone handles your mobile site well enough. 

@Mindy Jensen, if you don't mind notifying when there's an update that would be great. I'll keep checking the app store, too, so no worries if you forget. It's not like you aren't on a billion posts or anything ;)
