Adding Chat/Instant Message functionality?

Anyway we could get this @Joshua Dorkin ? I'm at work right now and can't do much research due to many external sites being blocked (thank god BP isn't!) otherwise I would have suggestions lined up for ya. Plus I don't know how the site is coded, but a basic google search seems to indicate it should be possible.

it would be nice to chat with colleagues rather than going to gmail or facebook or instead of sending messages back and forth.

EDIT - actually looks like www.cometchat.com might have a solution. but again I can't get to the site to research more.
