Renovation Contractor - New/Need Direction

I’ve been trying to find the niche that’d fit my interest when it comes to Real Estate & I think after 6 months of reading, listening, watching & thinking I can say I’m interested in becoming a contractor.

Currently I’d like to do commercial and residential renovation properties.

Eventually being able to manage the design of ground-up residential & commercial new-construction projects.

I’ve thought of going to school for project management but not sure if that’ll be as of much help when it comes to getting started somewhere…

So with that being said any ideas or advice on where I should start? I’m open to all suggestions and thank you all ahead of time!
