New construction in Pasadena CA

Anyone has experience to deal with building & safety division in City of Pasadena? I know it depends on many factors and variables such as how well an architect can work with City (how many plan revisions), if there’s other engineer reports required, and how competent of the GC etc. The reason I’m asking because we found a property in our desire area with reasonable price (a distressed house sits on top of this flat lot) that we’d like to build a house for our primary occupancy and we’d like to know the risk to deal with City of Pasadena.

I heard that City if Pasadena is notorious about being picky and slow on each step of processing plan submittal and inspections. I just like to know if anyone has experience with City of Pasadena and how timely they handle your case compare to other cities and how long is your estimate to build a new construction from scratch in Pasadena?
