Using Personal Connections

A lot of my family friends work in the trades (electrical, plumbing, carpets, labor, etc). When planning out the rehab process of a potential rental property, I'm trying to decide if using my personal connections is a good business decision. What are your thoughts? Is it better to keep personal ties out?
