Contractor Nightmare and how to fire them

Hello,

We are newbies in flipping and made the mistake of giving the GC 60% of the money. The GC came referred and we thought they would do the work and finish quicker.  Classic rookie mistake.  Now we are in a stalemate situation, it is hard to fire them and they have only done about 50% of the week.

We think they floated our money for something else and have no money for our project. We don't have the money to take legal action and wanted to know the best way to fire them and get somebody else to complete the job.  We are also using hard money & it really hurts.

We cant get the draw from the hard money lender as nothing is completed. Everything is partially done except for the new AC unit and new windows.

Any advice will be much appreciated.
