Hello Friends,

I am hiring a contractor to paint the interior of my Single Family home (Investment Property) in New Jersey. What document I need to ask him? Do I have to keep the copies of any of his documents? Do I have to mention any thing about his documents in the contract like Driving License # or professional license # etc? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Hi Syed,

My father has been a painter for about 20 years now. The best way to "vet" someone is to get referrals of friends and family that have used a painter in the past. There isn't typically a contract. I suggest only paying once the job is complete. If you are concerned with the $, tell the painter you will provide the paint.

Hope that helps!
