What questions do you ask your contractors?

I am putting my list of local contractors together.  What questions do you ask of your potential contractors?

@Kellee Dankiewicz

1. are you licensed, bonded, and insured

2. do you have three references that are not your family or close friends?

3. What are some recent projects that you have done? (addresses)

4. What can you do? Do you have subs for everything? or do you specialize in paint, framing, electrical, etc.?

5. What is your payment structure? Do you want money up front, when the jobs are completed or split payment? (anything other than payment when a job is completed run away)

6. Do you have multiple crews are is it just you?

7. How many jobs are you currently working?

8. Do you provide a Scope of Work?

9. Do you provide a timeline of the work?

10. What time of day will you be working on my job site? (it they say they get up at 6am, great!)

11. Do you mind if I supervise the work that you are doing?

12. Are you OK with signing a final lien waiver agreement at the end of the job? (If they say no, you run away)

These are a few. Some are softball questions, but they should answer them correctly
