Friend Adding me to the title after closing

Hey guys!

So my buddy and I are buying a property together.

He’s putting up all the capital and I’m doing the work to get it cash flowing.

My question is, I want to be on the title but I know putting myself on after closing could trigger a due on sale clause.

How would you guys recommend going about this?

I want to be on the title but don’t need to be on the mortgage.

I’ve heard of multiple people doing this with a family member and not getting their note called but I hear it can happen.

If I ask the lender to put me on prior to closing would they? Or is it better to just not say anything and do it after closing.

For clarification he is of course staying on the deed as well.
