Lender forcing repairs of “possible” issues?
I am in the middle of closing on a duplex. Appraisal came back with a “possible roof leak based on peeling paint on the ceiling” and “insulation on the steam pipes in the basement appears to be friable and MAY contain asbestos”. Neither of these things came up during inspection. Lender is now telling me I need to repair the issues before closing- how do I repair what may not even be there? Any advice for how to deal with this with my lender?
