Property management questions

Is it possible to be a property without any experience? I was given some advice to get in my foot in the door and try to be a property manager or intern while I am pursuing real estate. I ask because all the property management jobs I see all want some type of experience. Well if you are just starting out how do you get the experience?

@Erika Bond A lot of property managers out there gain experience by working on their own properties or family property.

I see a lot of people in your shoes get hired by an investor that might have 40-100 units across a few buildings where he is too small to have a full staff but to large to take advantage of some of the savings in hiring an assistant like yourself to handle the day to day.
