Is a 203k/FHA loan a real thing?

I have been reading and learning about real estate investing for about 6 months now. I was originally going to save and buy my first home when I came across Bigger Pockets and the REI community. I've decided to House hack and buy a Duplex as my first property. I want to buy one that needs some TLC but is still liveable for me and the future renter.

Back to the subject; is the 203k/FHA Loan a real way for me to make my first Real Estate Investment possible?

Does anybody have a similar story? As their first investment?
