First time homebuyer problem
My husband and I plan to purchase our first home and we are very excited! The house we want to purchase is closing this early July. We have a unique situation. I have only been here in the US for less than 2 years. I have been working for a total of 1 year and 3 months here in the US. I was a full-time employee for my first year. Then I moved to a new job (higher pay) but I am still a contractor (for 3 months now) and will be absorbed as a full time by 4th quarter of this year. My income is 65% of our annual combined income. My husband is a full time employee but his income will not be able to cover for the whole mortgage requirement. Question: Is there any way for us to still get approved on a mortgage application given my employment status? By the way, my employer is willing to provide a letter stating that I will be converted as a full time later this year. We are planning to do a 10% downpayment on a 250k house. Also, I used to work as a full time for more than 5 years but not here in the US (not sure if this matters but just laying out all the facts). Hope you can answer my question or give any advice. Thank you, all!
