Is selling real estate a Conflict of Interest as a bank employee?

I work for a commercial mortgage lender full time. The mortgage company is owned by a national bank. I sell real estate part time specializing in 2-4 unit multifamily. When I was hired, I was told by management that there was no issue with my business. 1 year later I am approached by a new manager and was told that I had to close my business because it was a conflict of interest. My question to you all is: Is selling real estate (2-4 unit apartments)part time during evenings and weekends a conflict with working for a commercial mortgage company or a bank? Please chime in. I have been told to close the business, do residential only or I will be terminated. Thank you
