Independent Mortgage Loan Originators

I read about investors getting their realtors license and hanging their proverbial hat under a brokerage that may charge a yearly fee etc. I was curious if there were mortgage brokers who do the same with licensed mortgage loan originators? 

I was considering getting my MLO license as part of creating my own notes / seller financing (in states I would be licensed in)  and was curious if there were similar setups of mortgage brokers as their was with realtor brokerages.
