How do you decide on which lender to use?

I have made a list of many lenders. On paper, they are essentially the same with some minor differences in offerings.

The question being: How do you decide which lender to use?

Side question: How can you help ensure a good, timely, mistake free lending process?

You will want to look out for a lender that is responsive, straightforward and has a track record of reviews and closings. Don't just blindly look at the rate and cost as it may cost you more headache and an appraisal.

Also look for someone humble. There's a lot of lenders that will make you feel stupid or won't explain to you in simple terms. You want to work with someone that will explain everything to you and will educate you in the process.
