How to pick a mortgage company to work for?

I’m looking to become a loan officer but I have no idea how to pick a mortgage company to work for? Are there differences in how people get paid? Is it better to work from home? Are there differences in what type of technology and sales systems I’ll have access to? Any other tips? Thanks!

I'd also consider being a hard money loan officer, as the guidelines are far less stringent and it can be more lucrative. Worth exploring, in my opinion.
