Opening CD's and other accounts to est relationships with banks

Hi,

Is it necessary to open a few savings, cds, credit cards, etc. to establish a new relationship with a bank/or credit unit to get future loans for real estate?  Not sure if I should open a few accounts with a few thousand dollars to est. that relationship if it isn't helpful to creating new relationships for funding.
