Getting pre-approved as a college student

Hey everyone, my name’s Blake and I’m an Aerospace Engineering student based in Springfield, Mo. I’m preparing to buy my first property in the next year or so and was wondering if it would be appropriate at this time to go talk to a lender.

I’m not financially ready to purchase for another year, but is it normal to reach out to a local lender to ask questions with no intention of buying within the next year? Should I reach out to multiple to make connections? I’d love any input from you all. Thanks!
