Changing Property Classification (Apt to Residential multiunit)
I was looking to invest in a multiunit rehab property and I noticed that the listing had mixed messages that it was a 4 vs 6 unit property. So I looked it up on the country property records and noticed that it is classified as Class C - "Apartments" designed for 5 or more dwellings. Since I was originally looking into 2-4 unit properties and it needs a full rehab, I wanted to know if it made sense to change the classification with the county if I rehabbed into a 4 unit property. I have no idea what the time, effort, and cost would be to change the classification to know if it would be worth it. Any thoughts? Thank you
