Buyer's Agent Commission

My girlfriend is looking to purchase a house. I've done a lot of the heavy lifting narrowing it down to a few properties to look at.

I am not a RE agent nor do I have any license of any kind, however I have access to the MLS and all the necessary contact info to set up showings (with the exception of a Supra). I am wondering if it is possible for either me or my girlfriend to be the "buyer's agent" and receive the 3% commission associated with it.

Basically we do not need a buyer's agent, but I don't see any reason for the seller's agent/broker to receive all 6% when we could be receiving part of it. I also have a regular agent that I use who works for Re/Max, however I wanted to get some thoughts from the BP community before attempting to speak with that agent about the situation.

Any comments/suggestions would be great!

-Michael
