Prep for becoming a Real estate agent (Texas)
Hi All,
I am interested in becoming a Real estate agent in Texas. I live in northern suburbs of Dallas, and know the area pretty well. What are the steps involved in becoming one?
Would you recommend any books for passing the test? Any other resources?
Thank you.

In Texas you would need to complete 180 of course work (that’s 6x30 hour courses) and pass the Texas real estate exam which is divided into two portions: the state and national portions.
You should start with your course work because that is the requirement you need to take the state exam. You can either take the courses in person or online. Although I didn’t take the courses with them, I heard Champions was one of the best course providers in Texas.
I hope that helps! If you need more details, you should check the TREC website for licensing information.
