HELP: New agent / 22 yrs old / quitting "excellent" job
Hello Biggerpockets - my name is Andrew I am 22 years old and am currently work (50hrs/week) in business development at a global consulting firm in Omaha, NE. I am also in the final phases of getting my RE license and am looking to transition into real estate full-time within the next year (looking to work 20-30 hours/week on top of my job).
My goal is to make the transition once I find myself having to sacrifice my RE career for my current job
Hopefully, that short backstory provided everyone with the context they needed if not please note your questions in the replies and I can add additional information as needed.
Here are my questions:
- I will be learning the RE business over the next 12 months in Omaha (because my job is there), but I am interested in relocating to a tier 1 market like NYC or LA. Where would be a few best places to move?
- How can I maximize my learning over the next 12 months?
- Any tips you have.
I appreciate everyone who took the time to read this post and look forward to reading your replies. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect.
- Andrew

Some quick tips I thought might help.
#1 It might be good to work under a team. You can learn a lot from experienced agents
#2. Structuring your days so that you consistently work on a bit of education every day is ideal. Especially in the next phase of this business knowledgable agents will be increasingly prioritized by sellers
#3 Get into good business building habits (i.e. cold calling, door knocking (not right now but you know what I mean), open houses)
#4 Get to know everyone you can in your local community. Go to real estate meetups. Maybe host one.
#5 Be weary of snake oil salesman and shiny object syndrome. Pick 2-3 ways to build business and become a master at those.
