Is it "risky" at all to actively promote yourself

Today I tried a voicemail service and loaded about 200 numbers in there. The results?

Two angry callers. One kept asking who I worked for. Another seemed very irritated when he called back.

One expired, who then called her (former) broker who then texted me saying her client (?) was wondering why I was calling them directly and that if I needed anything, I should feel free to reach out to the broker. This agent happens to be out of the same office as I.

Suffice it to say, seems to be more risk than what it's worth. I did get two decent leads, and maybe a third but if it'll be at the expense of a complaint or worse, then I would have to surmise that it is best to not use this avenue.

Funny thing is, in the voicemail, I clearly say something to the effect of, "but if you don't have any plans on selling then by all means just disregard this." I listened to the voicemail again and it sounds pretty non-confrontational and easygoing. Maybe I goofed in even trying it.
