Commission question for buyer's agent

I am working as a buyers agent for a friend, and am about to close a deal....up until about a week ago, I was under the impression that I would be the listing agent for thir home, but they havent lised their home yet, and have been considering selling FSBO. While discussing the current deal with the selling agent for the home they may be about to go under contract on, the listing agent tells me she may have a buyer for my buyers home, but I have no listing agreement. Do I just chalk it up to losing the commission, or is there anything I can do?
