I finally decided to get my license

Hi to anyone that decides to take a look at this post. I wanted to ask for some advice from some professionals that are currently in the business and those that are looking to join as well.

Several years ago I decided that I wanted to join the real estate business but I never took any real steps towards making that happen. I listened to podcasts and read books on investing and being an agent but it never really got beyond that point. I've always worked full time to support my family so a commission only job scared me.

About a month ago I finally decided to find a class so I could get my license because it kept eating away at me in the  back of my mind as I went from one boring job to another. I've already started looking at brokerages as well since I'm a couple of months away from sitting for my exam. I came across a position called an associate agent at Redfin that I found very interesting.

I'm looking to start as a part time agent since I am the sole breadwinner for my family at the time and this position seems perfect. It allows me to take appointments to just show homes, do open houses, attend inspections and so on for a flat rate per appointment. I think this will allow me to get my foot in the business while also earning extra income to put away until I can make the full transition. I would like to know if anyone here currently holds that position or what you think about the idea.

Hey @Quincy Knighten I am actually in the same exact process myself and saw that same exact Redfin position. Small world haha. I am keeping my full time job until I have held my license for a little while (maybe 6 months) and then jump in full time and work on getting my first RE Investment during that time as well.

I was going to reach out to the online instructor of my RE classes to see if anyone has knowledge of my area and recommendations/referrels for brokers that would be a good start.

Good luck to you, my friend.
