Military Move to Seattle - Help/Rec for Finding a Rental
Hello BP,
The Navy is moving my family to Seattle for about a year and a half and we only have a few days to find a place to live. My wife is finishing her degrees at UW and I will be commuting early in the morning to the ferry. Is anyone or does anyone have a recommendation for a good rental agent in Seattle? Someone that can line up a few places for us to see and can help in the rental search. Thanks!

Depends on which ferry. If your command is across the sound from Seattle, you should actually be considering Bremerton for a place to live. Prices are much better, and you will have a built in community. Keep in mind that Puget Sound can get windy and sometimes the Ferries don't run or in the fog they can run several hours late and at low tide some can't run at all. If your Commander doesn't have heart burn with you missing work, it's not such a big deal. The Ferries run both directions so your wife can catch a ferry to downtown and a bus to the UW if necessary if you live in Bremerton.
If you insist on living in Seattle you are better off living in Magnolia or Queen Anne since traffic can be nasty in the rain and traffic gets snarled which makes it hard to get to the ferry. The ferries tend to leave on time so plan accordingly. Ferry schedules change each season. When one ferry is out of commission, (broken) the entire system gets switched around on a temporary basis. Your life is tied to the Ferry schedule. Sometimes at night, the ferries quit running before you're ready to leave the party. ;-)
