Working for an agency in California, while living outside CA

I have a comfortable job in Education in a very cold state, and I want to move to CA (for the warmer weather). I will be taking an online course soon to get my CA realtor's license. I figure it could help me move to CA eventually. I have fair computer programming skills, and I might even end up creating something real estate related after getting more inside information about the industry.

I don't want to move to CA immediately after getting my license. I want to continue with my comfortable job (earning a comfortable pay), while working remotely for some agency, and building credibility.

My question for you is: is something like this possible? Is it possible for me to work for an agency in CA (after getting my Real Estate License), while being non-local? What kinds of work am I likely to receive?

Thanks for your considerate reply!
