Taking Realtor Test.. Tips anyone!?

You heard it.

Finally got to the place where I am going to take my test!

Need some tips, advice, videos to watch, shoulder to cry on.. (Just kidding about the last one..)

But if you have already taken the Realtor's test and have any tips that would be great!

I am so excited and pumped to finally be a Realtor!

(I will be taking my test and practicing in Washington State!)

Thank you!

Chris Wood

Do you mean to get licensed? REALTOR is just a designation from NAR. It has nothing to do with being licensed in most states.

If you are talking about getting licensed then generally the classroom tests and then you go take the bigger test for the state that covers state and national questions. They usually are multiple choice. One strategy is to only answer the ones you absolutely know for sure and then as you read through other questions narrow down the choices for the unanswered ones. example one you are unsure about with 4 choices and you have down to 2 remaining. You put off until later and by reading another question eliminate one of the two choices. Now you have a close to 100% guess versus a 50/50.

Congrats on the next step in your journey. I actually passed the Nevada exam, held my license for a bit, and decided to not keep it for multiple reasons. That being said it is like any professional exam. Study and know the concepts behind the questions. Knowing the real why behind each of the concepts will help you easily pass the test with much less stress. Put in the work and you'll get through it no problem. Good luck!!

@Joel Owens Yes, I mean by taking the test to become a Broker then to be a Real Estate Associate Broker.

Thank you for the tip! I've heard a lot about that. Another person said to also look for the most "thought out", sometimes meaning longer, better punctuation, and the one most fitting to the question. (Example is the question is looking for a plural answer, so if one of the answers were not plural, then you wouldn't choose that one.)

@Garrett Diegel   Thank you! I have been working hard at it and feel confident about taking the test. Glad it is not too bad!

What reasons did you not pursue being a realtor, if you don't mind me asking?

@Chris Pierog - for me mainly time. I own an insurance and financial practice and could not justify the cost of the license, time required, legal concerns with REI, and overall cost. That being said we will most likely look into getting my wife licensed in the future if the need arises. I am an investor, not a realtor, so I wanted to focus my time there. I think I just jumped the gun on getting my license because I thought it would be a good thing to do. For me it just didn't fit but I don't regret it for a second. I learned a lot along the way

Also - If I had not had my current established office / business in the financial industry - it is very likely I would have kept the license and become a realtor on the side while investing in real estate.

@Garrett Diegel Nice! Well, it is good to stick with something and do it, especially if you enjoy it. Tell her good luck for me! It is not too hard and it is quite interesting! Investing is good! I am both.

If you decide to look in Washington state, let me know! I have a friend I am helping find investing deals so I am always looking!

Thanks @Chris Pierog , we are always looking and Washington is close. We will be looking for up to 4-6 units over the next year or so. Both single and small multi family - 4 plex etc. Keep me in mind and feel free to reach out anytime with a deal.
