Question about buyer's agent fee
Good day BP !
I have asked agents in the past if bumping up the buyer's agent fee (2.5% to 3% or higher) would encourage more showings, and I get some mixed responses.
What if a listing agent drops the standard 2.5% buyer's agent fee to 2% ? Will that discourage you from showing the property to your clients? (assuming it's a property that is in high demand and right for your client)
I am not an agent yet, I'm curious what your thoughts are. Anyone is welcome to send me a PM as well, so that it's not posted on a public forum.
Appreciate your feedback!

It does not affect me at all, and it shouldn't affect you if you're an ethical agent. If you become a Realtor®, this is in your code of ethics. As a buyer's agent, I represent the buyer's best interest and I send them properties that fit what they're looking for regardless of what my commission will be. If the percentage is lower than what I prefer based on selling price, buyers know that it's possible they will pay the difference out of their pocket.
