Taking Real Estate License Exam after Course 1

I am in MN, wrapping up the completion of the Real Estate Prelicense Course 1. In this course, I learned that I can take the license exam after just completing Course 1. I understand that in order to apply for and obtain my license, I need to complete Course 2 & 3 as well. However, would it make sense to take my exam now and then complete the next two courses? Perhaps that way I can focus on the material from this first course and not bog myself down with additional information from the other two courses that won't be on the exam itself? Am I understanding this correctly?
