Starting a Real Estate Business (Selling and Listing)

Hi everyone.  I'm new to Bigger Pockets, but have been reading and listening to the podcast for about six months.  My wife is considering the possibility of starting her own company to sell real estate, primarily homes.  We would like to be able to list and sell.  She just works part time now and we are looking to replace her income.  We wouldn't be looking to buy a building to work out of, just keep expenses very low and simple, work from home, and create a strong online presence.   I am a partner in a business so I understand that aspect.  My question is: what licenses would she need to both list and sell?  Are there any books you could recommend to get us started.  Again, just wanting to keep it very simple at first.
