Newbie from Seattle/Tacoma!

Hi BP Community! I just wanted to say hello to everyone, especially those in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I'm really nervous and excited at the same time about writing an introduction as I am not sure exactly what to say with my lack of experience in this industry.

I will say that I have been doing a lot of research this past year! I am currently contemplating whether I should get my realtor's license in Washington state. However, I will be honest and admit that I am not a sales person - but I am very good at finding people the best places to live as I have helped friends! But my goal in getting the license is not to become a full time real estate agent. I want to get my license to learn about the industry and understand what is going on when my partner and I talk to realtors (currently I am a nanny with a master's in counseling psychology wanting to get into real estate investing....it's a bit of an odd switch). It is also our goal to cut out realtors and have direct access to the MLS. But in my research, getting licensed and maintaining the license seems to require more work than I expected. I do not mind doing it (I've been to grad school!) but want it to work for us. My question is, if I get licensed, can I hang my license at say a property management company? (I have a company in mind). Or does it have to be at a brokerage firm? Can I work specifically only with investors? I have a side job, so will not need to depend on selling as many homes as possible to survive and I live minimally. Is it as terrifying as someone made it seem to be a realtor? I cannot be a shark if this is a career that will require me to be one...I'm much to nice.

Thanks for listening! Any direction would be most appreciative!

Francesca
