Direct marketing to renters for buyer leads
I'm looking for other members experiences with direct marketing to renters to generate buyer leads.
I have read that over 75 percent of renters want to purchase but have perceived obstacles that make them feel home ownership is not an option for them. To me that means a little education on the options available to purchase a home might be what is needed to push them over the fence to purchase now.
What were the demographics you marketed to?
What was your ratio of marketing pieces sent out to leads generated?
Out of the leads generated how many actually closed on a home?
What contributed to your success of failure?
What educational resources do you feel are mandatory to get a solid grasp of direct marketing fundamentals?
Thanks for any info or experiences you can contribute :)

Hi,
Tried it for a few months without any luck. Tried being 50 - 75 letters a month for 3 months.
I then did an ad campaign on craigslist and got a few leads. But they were pretty pathetic with credit scores below 550, no income, recently bankrupt, etc. Plus, I found these people to be the most difficult to work with. They were demanding, unreasonable, inflexible and thought they deserved a home because it's a "right."
Suffice it to say, it's a good idea in theory but a lot of people end up exactly where they deserve.
