Employing Broker and Affiliate Broker Relationship

Hello fellow brokers

I have a question about this relationship. I have been working under a broker for almost two years with a salesperson license. When I was "hired" there was no contract signed discussing commission splits, duties or responsibilities. I was hired as an independent contractor and receive a 1099 each year. The commission split was discussed verbally.

I recently passed the broker exam and I am now a broker working in the same status ( independent contractor ) at the same company. Where there was no written agreement about commission splits, do I have to split my commissions anymore?

Thank you for your help on this matter.
