RE License with a Broker

I am a wholesaler in Dallas area and I see the value in obtaining my RE License but I don't want to get a job with a RE broker in order to get my license. Is there a way around that or are brokers sometimes friendly to sponsoring someone who will only work part time or just split commissions when I find a deal where not selling under assignment makes sense?
