Suggestions on best brokerages to "hang" RE license in Maryland

Hello all,

I'm new to RE and am surely trying to keep the costs down going out the gate. Do you have any suggestions for good brokerages to "hang" my license (once I do get it)? I've heard mention of brokerages that have no monthly fees, 100% commission and only charge a transaction fee with access to office as needed. I don't know if this can be found in MD. Advice/suggestions please? Where do you hang your license?

Thanks!

  • The problem with wanting to be an investor and a real estate agent is that there is a conflict!
  • You are trying to satisfy two masters - your broker and yourself! Can't do both very successful.
  • Your broker sees you as an element to satisfy his brokerage needs, he wants you to be a pawn, to chase listings, to show properties and to sit around on floor duty in the hopes and anticipation of creating some commission income for the brokerage and a small fee to you.
    • As an investors, you have a fantastic opportunity to represent yourself, to make offers for yourself, to control and flip real estate for your benefit, to earn more in one deal than you could make in coop commissions in months.
    • I say don't be a servant, represent yourself, make offers as a principal and collect outrageous profit for you, not an agency!
    • If you are going to affiliate with an agency, go with a very small one, try to get 100% commission.
