Beginner investor from Portland Oregon.. agent licensing rules?

Hello friends! I am a new member here on BiggerPockets from Portland, OR. I've been in the self education stages of real estate investing for the last 5 months now and I have a question I just can't seem to get answered via google or even a few agents I've spoken with in person. So here goes: I would love to get my real estate license, for all well known perks in the real estate investing world, but I hear that in Oregon its not as simple as getting the training and taking the test..  That we may have a different licensing process here than other states. From what I understand you have to be "sponsored" by a Principal Broker..... Does anyone in Oregon have experience with this? Has anyone heard of agencies that sponsor new agents with the understanding they intend to use their license primarily within their real estate investment company? Forgive me if this question is old news, but some light shed would be much appreciated. :)

I completed my OR license in 2015. Sign up with OnlineEd and do it all from home. 150 hours of coursework so it takes some commitment vs the states that are less than half the hours. Still can be done pretty quick or take your time like I did. I would suggest going faster and consistently so you don't forget things. After OnlineEd completion, you can take the test and do fingerprints at the test center across from The Grotto on Sandy. Once you're licensed is the fun part.... finding a principal broker! Some KW offices have an option to just "hang" your license if you're not actively working as a real estate broker. I'm sure other brokerages do too. It's not too expensive and then you can also qualify to legally receive referral commissions if you refer to an active agent. Good luck!
