New to U.S. Real Estate – Need Advice on Investing & Choosing the Right City

Caleb Chow

Hey everyone,

I’m new to real estate investing in the U.S. and planning to buy properties in the near future for rental income. Since I’m not based in the US, I want to make sure I’m making smart decisions when choosing a city and property to invest in.

I’d really appreciate any tips on:

  • How to evaluate if a city is a good market for rental properties

  • Key factors to look for in a strong rental market (job growth, population trends, etc.)

  • Any red flags to watch out for when investing remotely

  • Best ways to manage properties from a distance

Additionally, I’m looking for books, podcasts, or online resources to help improve my knowledge. If you have any recommendations, please share!

Some I’ve come across so far:

  • Podcasts: BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast, The Real Estate Guys Radio Show

  • Websites & Tools: BiggerPockets forums, Roofstock, Redfin, Zillow, City-Data

If you have experience investing in different cities or managing rentals remotely, I’d love to hear your insights! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
