House flipping as an agent

Brad Caudle
Posted

I am interested in flipping properties and am wondering about the advantage of also being a real estate agent. Is it practical / worthwhile to get your agent license purely to avoid paying listing-agent fees on house flips? Does said person have to pay monthly fees for MLS access for this benefit?

If you are thinking of doing it just to flip I would say don't do it.  No more than you should become a master electrician, master plumber, HVAC tech,  insurance agent, loan officer, and maybe other licensed people.    What I see, is most people get just enough knowledge to create trouble for themselves...kind of giving themselves a false sense of comfort.
I say real estate is a team sport.  Get people on your team.  Get a realtor, loan officer, GC, insurance agent, trades, etc.  You focus on finding deals and let your team do the work in their specialties.

For flippers I think your #1 job and #1 relentless focus should be finding deals
