Which brokerage to join

Hi,

Need good advice-after working over 10 years as an analyst and a bit as leasing agent-What type of sales brokerage to join. Aim just for the big names or national guys? Or is it okay to work for a private one/two man shop- where Im friends with the principal and who has all the knowledge and experience from working for the big firms... Dont like the cut-throatness and nastiness within some offices of some of the big "boiler room" firms and some of the restrictions on territories and property types, but cant afford to sacrifice actual success if thats the type of place you gotta go through, at least at this point in life...

Thanks for any input.
