In a bind, as a renter

I'm in a situation where my landlord has not provided me with a lease despite my several discussions with him. I am planning on sending a registered mail notice so I can have documentation. Originally, he stated that he would make a copy and would give it to me ASAP. It has now been several weeks. I am currently situated in Florida. What are my legal rights and steps I can take in regards to this? I have not been able to find any specific legality that addresses this through my online search.

Thank you
