Ready to take license exam looking for a sponsor
I am about to take real estate license exam and looking for a sponsor, Ohio requires having a sponsor before taking the exam. I am a CPA who own a small private practice in West Chester, Ohio. Besides that, I also own a few rental properties and manage an office building now. My clients always ask me to help them negotiate real estate deals, so I have a little real estate experience. Now I eagerly await finding a sponsor and take the exam to make purchases some more rental properties in Dayton area.

Picking a brokerage to work for is really based on your goals and what you are trying to do within the business. If you are looking to do typical retail housing, single family primary homes, etc. I would recommend one of the large brokerages (Coldwell Banker, Sibcy Cline, Comey, etc.) they offer thorough training for new agents focused on selling retail homes. They also offer a lot of back end admin support which may be helpful starting out and since you have a full time job already, you pay a much higher commission split for these services. If you want to work with investors then they really do not offer much in the way of training for that. A smaller brokerage or team that focuses on investment property would be a better fit. Once you have a good baseline of knowledge, filling out contracts, negotiating, and basic sales, then you could go work at a smaller company with better terms since you will have to be more independent. That was my route and it worked out well.
