Hello everyone,

I recently signed up for my pre-licensing classes to obtain my license, classes begin next week. However, it did not occur to me to ask the knowledgeable folks here on BP about a very important oversight that I may have overlooked.

Almost ten years ago, I was convicted of three felonies: breaking and entering, grand larceny and kidnapping. I made some regrettable decisions back in high school, was incarcerated and have been paying for that mistake ever since.

Will my prior convictions give grounds for denial of licensure? If not, will my prior convictions prevent me from hanging my license with a brokerage, or does it depend on the brokerage?

If so, this may be an investing strategy that I may have to forgo and begin to look elsewhere.

I am asking specifically for the state of Virginia, but if anyone has any input on the matter, I'm all ears.

Son, take the course even if it's just for the education.
