Help with teaching!

Posted

I am a real estate agent and I was asked to teach a college level introduction to real estate course at a local private college near me. It will be a 10-week course for two 90-minute classes/week. My plan is to teach the students about the home buying/selling process and the role of an agent and all the different people involved. I want to bring in a lender, escrow/title, inspectors, etc as guest presenters. I would also discuss real estate investing and property analysis, commercial real estate, and the various opportunities in real estate.

Has anyone here done something like this before? Do you have any advice or is there anything you would love to teach on that I missed? I think this would be a great opportunity and I plan to take it, just not sure where to start. Thanks!

In case they didn't get it at home or high school, you might also spend some time with credit....how to get and keep good credit.  How that affects renting and buying property....maybe tie that in with the lending aspect.

If you are going to teach something about investing, might be good to have them run some live analysis, rent surveys, research what kind of loan they can get, see what 20 year projections are, things like that.  Also inspiring if you know or can find them, people in your area that might have a 100 single families or 1000 multifamily doors or more.

Sounds like fun, even if you get paid something, I consider this giving back.....awesome that you will take the time to do so.
