Your article Build an out of state empire with the right agent

Posted

My email opened with that heading. It reminded me of my lost opportunity to be rich. I was a central Calif creative financing expert. I came up to visit Oregon around 1991. It was so depressed that I couldnt believe it was part of the nion. Huge homes that are 2 million plus today were 45,000. Really! Im talking 4,000 sq ft Victorians and Tudors with amazing interiors in pristine condition---all at least a million each now w some over 10 million.   (Oregon was seriously seriously depressed in late 80s--early 90s) I couldnt stay long so I chose a large broker in Portland and started shooting creative offers, which were all turned down. This went on for several months. I was so busy with my brokerage in Santa Cruz CA that I didnt really have time to think about why this was happening.  Finally, I came up to find out that she had closed her office. It seems she stole all my offers and ideas and presented them herself, amassing a fortune in real estate.

For example, there was one that would have been 15 million in Calif bay area. It had a 45,000 mortgage and its value was only 40,000. The seller said they would GIVE ME THE $5,000 and Id just take the home. The crooked broker later told me they changed their mind but she bought it. Mt atty said it would take so much work to prove it all that Id need ahuge deposit up front so I didnt follow up. She had given up her license and moved so complaints to the Board were useless.

Poit is--as the article here suggests, choose carefully when dealing outside your own back yard.
