Broker License Transfer Process?

I have a business partner with his own company and broker's license in California. He would like to fold that business into our joint company. He's going to contact the CA DRE...but I though I'd ask here for the process. Is the process to transfer the broker's license the same as a real estate license from one company to another? Or is it more involved? Thanks in advance!
